The Canon 1DC and Kinotehnik EVF

I was recently lucky enough to be able to shoot with Canons number one DSLR, the 1dc. Canon Norway lent me their beast for a shoot in Ecuador, where we were to shoot short commercials for a TBA project (secret, will post when ready :). When the 1dc was announced last year, it was the first camera, DSLR and non-DSLR, to offer a viable 4k onboard recording solution for documentarist and run&gun shooters. RED and C500 and Sonys solutions (until recently) are all dependent on quite heavy and power-hungry setups. On the 1dc, I was able to stay shooting-ready on three batteries a day (normal…

Quick test: Sigma 18-35 f1.8

Brand new lens getting a taste of the Norwegian weather I recently got a chance to play with the yet-to-be-released Sigma 18-35 f1.8. Stein Erik at Fotovideo.no called me up and told me that he had one sample unit for testing purposes. This is not even an actual selling unit, its pre-production. Its always getting tangeled and getting stuck somewhere. Its really not that reliable (they easily "break"), and they can even damage the camera, when people trip the cable. I know a AC, whose job it is to often setup the BNC cables to video village, who dreamt of tangeled cables strangeling him. No joke! I got Teradeks Cube a while back, and it was a mixed experience. On paper it had lots of cool functions, but it…

Quick review: Globalmediapro V-mount Power Adaptor

During the last couple of years, I`ve gotten all my batteries and "powertools" from the great guys&gals at Globalmediapro.com. Their stuff is great quality with an unbeatable pricepoint. And their shipping is shockingly fast, even though they are on the other side of mother earth from Norway. Amazing! During the last 6 months, I have been lucky enough to betatest a batteryplate from Globalmediapro. A V-mount to everything unit, which sits comfortably on standard 15 size rods. All the monitors, recievers, transmitters and lights flooding into the market these days needs powering. If you power every unit independently, it adds wheight and it also adds…
