The Canon 1DC and Kinotehnik EVF

I was recently lucky enough to be able to shoot with Canons number one DSLR, the 1dc. Canon Norway lent me their beast for a shoot in Ecuador, where we were to shoot short commercials for a TBA project (secret, will post when ready :). When the 1dc was announced last year, it was the first camera, DSLR and non-DSLR, to offer a viable 4k onboard recording solution for documentarist and run&gun shooters. Quick test: Sigma 18-35 f1.8

Brand new lens getting a taste of the Norwegian weather I recently got a chance to play with the yet-to-be-released Sigma 18-35 f1.8. Stein Erik at Fotovideo.no called me up and told me that he had one sample unit for testing purposes. This is not even an actual selling unit, its pre-production. During the last 6 months, I have been lucky enough to betatest a batteryplate from Globalmediapro. A V-mount to everything unit, which sits comfortably on standard 15 size rods. All the monitors, recievers, transmitters and lights flooding into the market these days needs powering. If you power every unit independently, it adds wheight and it also adds…

Nikon D800

Disclaimer: This blogpost is based on a sponsored Nikon event  Even though Nikon started the whole DSLR video thing, they have not really mastered the technology up until now. The Canon 5d, released some months after Nikons D90 2008 release, had much better video performance and got established as a true game changer. And the game has changed. Every pro DSLR is now expected to feature pro video, and the recently released D800 is made with the intent of taking on the Canoninzed videomarket. As some may know I am a Canon shooter, owning 5Ds and lots of lenses. But I still think its important…
